Tyler Museum of Art Cherokee beadwork show


The Tyler Museum of Art in Tyler, Texas (100 miles east of Dallas) has a show running through August 15th on Cherokee beadwork. It showcases the works of contemporary Cherokee beadwork made by fourteen artists, almost all of them of Cherokee descent. Martha Berry is the guest curator, and there is an article about her and the show in the Tyler Paper. Berry is presenting a talk at the museum on Thursday entitled “The Rise, Loss, and Revival of Traditional Cherokee Beadwork.”
