Teri Greeves at the O’Kayne Gallery

Teri Greeves, an enrolled Kiowa, is displaying her beadwork at the O’Kayne Gallery at the University of Houston-Downtown. I believe she had high-heeled beaded tennis shoes on display at Bead & Button one year? I really like the expression she can get, even in works with no facial features, as in these images from a past show at the Jane Sauer Gallery. There’s a pair of her shoes and many cuffs at the Home & Away Gallery website; the shoes were included in the Craft in America PBS program. The Craft in America website has a 1 minute video of Teri showing her own naming ceremony outfit, and another of her mother talking about the history of beadwork from the Native perspective. Teri’s work is on display until March 31st.

  1. I saw some of Teri’s work at the Berkshire Museum in Pitsfield Mass. I was taken by the wall hangings that appeared to be “glass beads” on a silk background. I was wondering if she has any work like that in smaller sizes?

    Thank you.
