National Museum of the American Indian

This Smithsonian museum highlighting the American Indian has two locations, one in New York City, and one in Washington, D.C. It is “dedicated to the preservation, study, and exhibition of the life, languages, literature, history, and arts of Native Americans.” Its collections span the Americas and the Caribbean. I have been to the NYC museum, but recently was able to visit the D.C. museum for the first time. I highly recommend both! Following are some pictures of bead and quillwork that I enjoyed; click on the thumbnail for a larger image.

    • I read almost none of the signage, but I *saw* a lot of it. I would have liked more time there, but was just glad I was able to fit it in. Definitely worth a return trip!
