Land of Odds has a blog post (with pictures) today about Joyce Scott, and the Frist Center Gallery in Nashville backing out of her showing 2-3 years ago because of the issues raised by her beadwork:  race, violence, sexuality, etc.  I remember when this happened, and I do think there’s a place for controversy in beading.  I also wonder why the curator changed the exhibited pieces to ones that would be more controversial.
