Fused glass plus kumihimo, finished


So, here is the completed necklace with Carol’s fused glass pendant:

I used copper charlottes to make a simple bail as well as beadcaps, and then used a copper clasp. It’s very wearable! My braiding smoothed out towards the end; as my braid ended up being maybe 3″ longer than I needed, I cut off the beginning part. This still isn’t perfectly smooth — I can see how using a maru dai and weighted spools would be an improvement. The tension depends on how tightly I’m pulling the fiber (in this case, cotton embroidery floss) before I capture it with the slot of the braiding disk. The weights would be a consistent tension. Someday, I may make or buy a maru dai…
